History

Réseau Ecologie des Interactions Durables (REID) exists since 1993. His goal was to consolidate and structure the national community of researchers working in a field of study, population biology, on a specific theme, the sustainable interactions.

The interactions are long-lasting interactions with both the evolutionary time scale but also at the individual level during the life of the bodies involved in the relationship. These interspecific associations (parasitism, symbiosis, mutualism, etc.) occupy a considerable place in ecosystems, species belonging to the environment of another. They play a determining role in the process of evolution.

Historically the research community constituting the REID was largely composed of researchers from the CNRS, Universities and INRA, then joined by researchers from IRD and CIRAD. This broadening of the network is not without consequences for its scientific questioning. In addition to fundamental questions of evolution and ecology lasting interactions that remain central, the Network is also interested in more applied questions relating to social demands for human health, animal and plant, which inherently Biology of Populations may offer some answers.
